    Wine Cellar Plans

All, I'm sorta kinda in the process of trying to buy a home and am trying to figure out a way to convert a den into a wine cellar (for both my bottles who are suffering from lack of humidity and my wine making). I'm trying to figure out how I can do this without having to tear into sheetrock...

...maybe down in South Texas but I doubt it this early in the season. Things are humming quite along. I'm finishing up Enology II and trying to figure out where I'm going to fit in a intro to chemistry class..... I found my winery (aka the guest bathroom) very empty so I've kicked off a...

Waste not! - DIY Sherry ?

I sat through a class with Dr. Roy Mitchell (for those of you in North Texas) who has the oldest (and maybe only) Sherry operation in Texas. He had said the same thing...in fact, he knew a professor at Fresno State who had a "sherry operation" in a closet! So Inow have a 1 gallon jug that I...

Cellar Craft Amarone--Cellar Craft International Showc

If it helps any Smoke, I just racked my CC Rosso Fortissimo and just noticed that little oil slick on top. I figured this is probably a by product from the skins/seeds since I haven't ever seen this with any of the Winexpert kits. Thanks to Dean for the confimation!

    "Cleaning" Solution

Yeah...I've noticed that Oxyclean has "reformulated" their stuff and they don't list what's in it. However, I found a store brand (probably licensed the original formula from Oxy!) that does list its ingredients (typically sodium precarbonate...). I ended up getting this store brand (aka...

    WineXpert OD on SO2

I thought I would provide an update on this batch. I've pretty much ignored it and just let the lees compact and simply kept an eye on it; tasting ever so often. Today I racked it off the lees to a fermentation bucket (to sorta help agitate it) and then racked it back to a carboy. I'm...

    "Cleaning" Solution

So...I'm looking at what's in B-Brite and I'm starting to wonder if I could use OxyClean (or similar) for cleaning wine equipment? Thoughts?

    Kentucky vineyard

Deer will eat anything....<laughing> If you're going to put up a deer fence you may want to consider electrifying it. Just remember to disconnect it before you go into the vineyard! ...not that I have ever done that....lol
