Well three years in the carboys is way too long but the wine is outstanding in every way. The two Cabs (B9 & B10) are smooth but strong. The Merlot (B8) on the other hand is nothing short of spectacular. The aroma is great with a solid Merlot smell, the taste is smooth and rich and the “bam” a...
Ok, I'm jumping back into this after a 3 year break. Going to start with an Oaked Chardonnay. I see Meglioli has one this year for Jan. 2015 release.
Any recommendations? High end kit, 100% juice, or close to it. Thanks
Should I introduce myself as a newbie? :) I renewed my membership today. Sorry about being MIA for a bit but I got the itch again. Just got back from a 5 day trip to Napa and Sonoma. I'm going to lurk for a bit to see who is still here. Hello all ...

I have two wine barrels on my deck the I'm going to plant one vine in each. But the price was right I got 10 for the hell of it. I have 6 holes planned and secured from deer up by the well house on a fence line.
So I'm going to give it my best shot. I pulled the trigger too quick and found...

Hey Ben, I have had mine on glass for about three weeks now with no problem. I have them set up on a temperature controller. A bit expensive but it gives them that required off time.
Disclaimer: I am not recommending using them on glass, I think you should always follow the MFG. directions.
I have been using the SWAG method when it comes to making my sanitize solution. I am using potassium metabisulfite and mixing one gallon at a time then filling a spray bottle off that gallon till it's gone.
Well yesterday the gallon was empty and it was time to make some more. I know I'm...
Shot a quick clip while I was degassing some wine today. I was adjusting the vacuum from 10" to 15" until I could leave it at 15" for about 5 minutes.16bwKZsEVbQ
How do you shrink them? Heater or Water? Do you add sulfites to your water?
Right now I'm using boiling water. I'm thinking of adding sulfites for the water that gets trapped on the cork to keep any potential mold growth at bay.
