Some say the alcohol in the wine prevents the sugar from completely dissolving. I make simple syrup....boil 1 cup water, add 2 cups sugar and stir till just before the boiling point. This also makes it easy to taste test just one cup of wine, I usually start with 1/8 tsp of simple syrup in a cup of wine and go up from there.

My strawberry wine still doesn't look crystal clear--I added some grape juice per some advice somewhere on the internet. NOT sure I like it… you think I should keep letting it sit? I do have to brag a little… my persimmon wine is tasting somewhat dandy! I shouldn't have bragged… now it will stop fermenting or something…

I found when using the sweeteners sold at brew shops leave a chemical taste. Not to mention the cost is so much more. Simple syrup made from sugar gets my vote
