Yup, you guys got me hooked on these little pills for saftey in the wine.

My question is, I added 2 tabs to two gallons 10 days ago while racking. Well tonight I was ready and bottled. but how you say we use much less then the winery's, I added just 1 tab to the two gallons tonight just before bottling as a little precaution.

Is it ok to drink this wine just after placing 1 campden in wine ? or do I have to wait a day or so.

All the wine is now bottled and ready to be consumed !

Thanks to all your help

If you just bottled you might want to give it a few weeks as bottle shock usually takes a few weeks to 2 months to go away but sometimes there is little to none. The extra SO2 that you put in there will most likely not be detected at all.

What exactly does bottle shock taste like? I understand that it because you compress the 3 inches of air into a 1.25 inch space but has anyone actually taken"the forbidden taste" and lived to tell about it?

It just makes a good wine taste totally different and typically bad.
