Two quick questions about campden tablets?

1.) How long do they last? A friend gave me a ton of them, but they are a couple years old.

2.) How many should I use per gallon as an equipment sanitizer?

they should be OK if water hasn't gotten to them. One way is to add a few to a gallon of water and "smell" if it takes your breath away then they R good

Um, a few to a gallon of water wont do anything! To make a sanitizer solution for a gallon you need to add about 88 tablets!!! basically it takes about 4 tablets to equal 1/4 tsp and you need 3 tbs per gallon.
