Treating Wood on Press

I have a new press with a wooden basket. Does it need to be treated with a food grade varnish or do most people just use their wood presses all natural? WVMJ

I used shellac on mine, because it is food grade and all natural

I ordered and will be applying EZ-DO on mine as many on this forum has strongly recommended it.
