i am doing a pear recipe that is for 5 gallons ....the recipe calls for just 1/2 tsp of pectic enzyme for the whole thing...is this enough...it sure dont seem like it?
If its not can i add more being i have already pitched my yeast?

1/2 tsp per gallon

1/2 tsp per gallon is what is normally recommended. You can add it now if fermentation is just starting. As the alcohol and CO2 levels increase the enzyme action will slow & then stop - but will still function in the beginning.

Any time you have viscous musts, don't afraid to double or triple the pectic enzyme dose. I suggest using the better pectic enzymes like Lallzyme C-Max.
