Just wondering if there is an actual device or gizmo to take a sample from must with (plum) pulp co-mingled with the liquid. I have a wine thief on order but I am guessing that will get clogged in the pails where I didn't use a mesh bag. I was thinking about wrapping some nylon mesh on the end of the wine thief, but it hasn't come in yet so I have not been able to try that idea. Seems like a pretty common thing to have to do but I did some searches on terms like "filtered wine thief" and didn't come up with much. I've been making due by scooping up some must and straing that but I figured there must be an easier way or a specific tool for the job.

I made a filter tube based on the suggestion by @winemaker81 in this post EC-1118 slow?

Wrap the filter tube in a mesh bag, and use your wine thief to take a sample from inside.
