Hello,
Fairly new to cider making, on my 3rd batch. Last few years things have been OK. Have a better hope for this year as had a better mix of cider apples.
About to take out of secondary. Have not tried to carbonate in the past. Was planning on using normal priming sugar (I have 4 gallons which from what I was reading I should use 3/5 of a cup of dextrose based on 3/4 of a cup for a 5 gallon batch). This would be roughly 150 grams of sugar.
So, I was thinking, could I use something else to both add some flavor and prime. Such as pure cranberry or pomegranate juice? Or even just unpasteurized cider? If I looked at how much sugar was in each serving of whatever I added and did out the math to equal 150 grams of sugar. Would this a) even work? b) add to the flavor? c) make bottle bombs?
Just an idea, let me know your thoughts.
Thank you,
Colin
