Can a kit be fermented(primary) in a 6 1/2 gal carboy or is there not enought head space? Do I need a plastic bucket fermenter(I never use plastic for beer)? Thank You , Doug

I am sure it can be done and has been done but it doesn't give you much room for stirring the kit properly and you would most likely have an issue with foaming out of the top of the carboy.

My advise....buy a 7.9 gal plastic fermenter with a spigot as it is well worth the twenty bucks.

Thanks , will take your advice

With the proper care it will last a good long time and gives you the flexibility to make fruit wines and crushed grape kitsalso.

Welcome to the forum...glad to have you aboard!
