I mix campden in my winein the primary, and at every other racking after that. It's easy to know that the campden has been thoroughly mixed in "primary" wine, because I use a drill-mounted stir device. And this is true at some rackings, because I use the same stir device to degass.

But at some rackings I do not degass. In this case, how do you ensure that the campden is thoroughly mixed in the wine?

1st crush the tab's and disolve in water before adding to the wine.

I would not do it every other time unless its 3 months apart.

Yes, I crush the tablets and dissolve them in a cup of slightly warm water. Then I pour the water into the empty carboy before I rack the wine into it. Should this be enough to thoroughly mix the camden solution into the wine, or should I use my Mix-Stir to mix it in?

Thanks,

That should be enough. But, it wouldn't hurt either. That way you can check and see if there is any gas left.
