My hydrometer stays to the side of the plastic tube when I try a take a reading for my wine. I cleaned and thoroughly dried it but still sticks to the side.
Do I need to buy a new hydrometer.

No. If you spin it and take a reading before it stops and goes to the side, it will be pretty close. If you are going to buy something, make it a test cylinder. they are wider and have a better, more solid base. Something like this one
plastic test jar

I have a hydrometer that does that! The lead in the bottom is not level. Now I check for that when I buy them.

Got a new hydrometer and is working just fine. Thanks for all your help.

I think they are designed that way to drive you nuts. Just like how the numbers always face away from you when you thy to read it.

After it comes to a rest take one finger and slightly push the hydrometer away from the edge. Be careful to not get it spinning. Wait a few seconds while the bottom centers itself. Should be fine then.
