Looking for some advice on taking SG readings in my wine theif. Yesterday I took my first SG reading before stabilizing and clearing and struggled to get the hydrometer to not stick to the wall of the wine theif. Any tricks of the trade?

I did spin it as i let it sink in the sample????

Thanks for the help.....

Try filling it almost all the way to the top of the thief so the tip of the hydrometer is higher than thief. I do this when I have a lot of foam and can't get a good reading until the liquid level is at the very top.

To fill it up higher use quick up in down motions in the batch and this action will fill the thief as high as you want.
