Hello and thanks for any info.

This is my first batch of elderberry wine. I started fermentation on Sept 9th. It has been racked numerous times and im on the last steps before bottling. I followed the instructions(well i thought i did) i used new equipment, sterilized everything according to manufacturers instructions and now two weeks away from bottling i see a floatie and some whitish residue starting to form on the glass below the airlock. Please see pic.

Thank you .

This is in a 6gal.

it may be flower of wine. a surface bacteria that eat up the alcohol and make it water. Causes are santization, so2 to low or ph values not right. rack asap from bottom up and leave the last two inches of the top hit it with a double dose of K-meta, about 1/2 tsp for the 6 gallons. check the ph and adjust if necessary. bottle as soon as you can wine may not keep very well.
