Into the second day of fermentation of my cranberry wine, I found a dead fruit fly floating on the must. What is the chance that it infected my wine? How long before it starts turning to vinegar? Should I dump the batch and start over? I hate to be wasting time on something that will be spoiled. And no, I don't want 3 gallons of cranberry vinegar...

Thanks!

You will be fine. That is a good reason to keep your fermentation covered with a cheese cloth and rubber band. I am sure the wineries run into that all the time.

It's OK, just a little added protein. If it was doing the backstrock, your in trouble, otherwise, no problem. Just listen to Wolfman Dan.

Its fine. just think, he died a happy death
