I have never used one, but my thoughts are:

1) Ball appears a little small. That can be solved by opening as many times as you need.

2) Have to ferment grape skins/wood in a bag. You don't want them in the ball.

3) I have to transport to the kitchen. So, that is a problem for me.

4) Harder to clean than a pail and tubing.

5) You want to stir up the lees (re-suspend the yeast) daily, and conical shape makes that harder.

6) Not much headroom for a 6 gallon wine kit, especially if the kit has skins.
