What do you suppose I expect to pay for an average bottle of Amarone in the US? I've never tried it and just wondered what I can expect when I am out looking for it.

That's what I was seeing in my internet research. Might be worth just buying a kit to determine if I like it, at least then I'd have 30 bottles right? :)

Yep. Ive tasted a $100 bottle and a $65 bottle. The RJS EP kit was way better then the 65 and IMO as good as the 100! I didnt really like the Cellar Craft much.

Not really, its really its own entity. If you were to make a raisin wine it would probably be the closest comparison.

Do you put raisins in when you make Amarone?

Is there any guidelines to that? Do you just throw a handful or so in?

:gb:gb

Actually the RJS EP Amarone comes with both a raisin pack and a grape pack. Some of the Mosti Mondiale kits come with raisin packs to add also. You can just throw them in or put them in a fermenting bag.

Yeah Valpolicella Ripassa is close but much lighter in body like a Pinot Noir comapred to a Cabernet.
