Hydrated VP41 with just about 1/3 of the package to inoculate my 15gal batch; and then pitched but WAY too much gas coming up the Demi John,
Stirred with spoon and foam came out of vessel, lost some wine...

It seemed to have settled so removed 1/2 gal and then stirred with stirrer mounted on drill....oh boy foamed like crazy and lost even more wine.

To bring level up I added 3 oak spirals.
The head space seems to be around 2 1/2 inches from the bottom of the bung.

I am really hoping that most of the MLB mix stayed in the demi john....:m

The volcano effect of trapped co2 in the lees, you can take a plastic cup over the demijohn in the future and release the gas out slowly
