    WineXpert Help, kit won't start

Yes it's World Washington Riesling. The yeast packet is Lalvin EC-1118 with numbers punched in the side: 0189004M-BBD-12-2015. Numbers on the box sticker: 017233 08 143 13 0326. Yeast numbers look not expired but don't make much sense of the box numbers. Just a few hours short of three...

    WineXpert Help, kit won't start

I looked all over the box when I bought it Saturday and found no date on it. My guess also that the yeast is passed.

    WineXpert Help, kit won't start

Don't usually bother checking the SG and didn't this time. Don't see much point as I can time the steps well by the kit's activity. I'll wait another day and just added a little heat to the area to bring it up to 75 that may help. I've added cranberry and blackberry homemade puree in others...

    WineXpert Help, kit won't start

I started a WineExpert Washington Riesling Sunday with an addition of a couple cups juice from my own vines. Two days now and not perking. I've made kits many times and always get working after one day. Help, what can I do to get my kit started? This is my first failure. Like I said I've done...

    How to clean fresh grapes

Thanks Dan......... I plan on pressing by hand tonight or tomorrow and starting this batch tomorrow as soon as I'm sure what to do. Should I only use the juice or leave the skins and seeds during fermentation? This is a Riesling but don't mind some color if that's all the extra solids will do.

    How to clean fresh grapes

Hi all, Planning on adding fresh grapes to a WineExpert Riesling kit. I've used that kit many times adding cranberry puree and also blackberry and has always come out good. Thought I'd use my own three vine grape harvest added this time to give it different caracter. One Caan and two...

WineXpert Can I lower the alcohol content?

I appreciate all the fast responses. I'm sure the blackberry added isn't increasing the food to the yeast thus increasing alcohol. I add it at clarifying stage along with sorbate that stops the yeast. I get advice now and then from George at "The Winemakers Toy Store" in Texas. According to...

WineXpert Can I lower the alcohol content?

I've made many kits and some turn out really potent. I would rather stay in control drinking with friends not having to stop after two glasses to keep my sanity. I make a WineXpert Washington Riesling adding a blackberry reduction. Makes a remarkable improvement but still pretty potent in...

    WineXpert add blackberry to Riesling

World Vinyard Washington Riesling is an inexpensive kit to buy. Pretty average on taste though. I added a cranberry reduction to a couple and turned out much better. I've been adding a blackberry reduction and it makes an unbelievable improvement. Six months or better aging makes a real fine...

WineXpert I want to add cranberry flavor

Great idea guys. I'll try making my own F-pac with cranberry. I've had great luck with Mueller Thergou mixes. Any suggestions of others of this type to try it with? I'm leary of making a batch from scratch yet. The recipes I've read show this taking a lot longer than I have patience for...

WineXpert I want to add cranberry flavor

I've made quite a few kits from red to white all with great results. Wife likes the red and I like the Rieslings. I'd like to try adding a cranberry flavoring I bought at a wine store to a white mix. Can anyone suggest a mix best to use or if anyone has tried this? There's a Cranberry...
