    homemade press

I just built one this year. Took about a week of evenings, plus two Saturdays, but I can use it for small batches with a pvc basket from water main pipe, or use it with the wood basket (which was the majority of the work building it) for about a #35 size basket. Press mechanism is a bottle...

    Marquette wine availability

I live in eastern Iowa and made a bunch of Marquette last year. I even have some from 2012 in my cellar. You're welcome to stop by and pick a bottle or two up to try it. Marquette Frontenac blend port

I've got some Marquette that turned out very hot this year at a 26 brix that fermented to dryness, and some Frontenac as well (much lower initial brix on this). I'm thinking the high pH (~3.75) mixed with high TA (~9.5) and high alc/vol is going to require a sweet wine to balance correctly...

    Nomacorc Select Series 900

I've been looking for a good medium-to-long-term storage cork that will treat my wines well for 5 years, but will also allow me to store the wines however I please (I hate having to lay them on their side). I've been looking forever for a good source for nomacorcs, and finally found one at...

    Hello from Central Iowa

I have been perusing this forum since Spring 2013, and wanted to finally get involved in the conversations, so here I am. I'm new to winemaking, only being involved for less than a year, and look forward to a long and rewarding hobby. Currently, I have some carboys going in the basement...
