    Sediment and Secondary Fermentation

I'm currently on day 13 of making my Selection Original Barolo kit. The instructions for the kit say to leave "most of the sediment" behind when racking but when I transferred to the secondary I used the spigot from the bucket as opposed to the siphon. I'm thinking now I may have transferred...

When does wine taste like wine?

I didn't add the flavor pack until near the end as the instructions stated. I followed the directions well, but there are a couple things that are bothering me now. At one point I was told by a few peoplethat if I liked the taste of my tap water (well water)I could use that...so I did; however...

When does wine taste like wine?

Thanks Wade. It's good to know it's likely going to be fine. I have no problem letting it sit for however long is needed; however, I will need to buy another carboy so I can start another batch. I guess this is what it's like when you catch "the fever", huh?

When does wine taste like wine?

The kit is Summer Breeze Blackberry/Cherry Pino Noir. I wanted to try something inexpensive my firsttime in case I messed something up.Hopefully all I need to do is give it more time and maybe a couple more rackings because I feel like I followed the instructions quite well.

    Heating in Primary Fermentation

From what I can see the CO2 came from the seal between the lid and the bucket. Maybe I didn't have it on as good as I thought. The bucket is 7.9 gallons and I'm making a 6 gallon batch. Tonight I'm going to keep the lid on but not as tight. Just kidn laying it on there as George...

    Heating in Primary Fermentation

Thanks for all the info guys. I went ahead and bought a brew belt and everything is going great. By the time I put it on the bucket I could already tell fermentation had begun despite the lower temps. I put the lid on the bucketand attached an airlock and when I woke up this morning there was...

    Heating in Primary Fermentation

Hey guys, I'm new to wine making and the forum and this is my first post. I started my first batch of wine last night and realized when I woke up this morning that the temp of the wine dipped down to as low as 63 degrees F during the night. So far there has been no signs of fermentation and...
