    New England/Tri-State Area get together!?

Yes, I am still interested. I'm in central Maine and would be willing to travel to central/southern Mass. Beyond that it's more than a one day trip. Thanks

RJ Spagnols Quality of Cru Select Kits

The Viognier was excellent. I made a kit in 09, one in 10, and just put up a third. The 09 was great, the 10 was a little on the weak side (but so were the commercial pours), and the 2011 kit is probable the best I've ever tasted, my wine or commercial ( a good year for grapes is my guess)...

RJ Spagnols Quality of Cru Select Kits

I've made several of the NZ Sav. Blanc and Viognier .... I will be making several more of the same. Make sure you let them age for 12-16 months .... a major world of difference.

    New England/Tri-State Area get together!?

I vote for Sturbridge, Mass. Close enough for the Conn crowd, also for the Maine, NH, and VT. crowd. It sounds like fun !!!

    Skittle Wine

This was my Skittles wine 10 minutes after I put the Super Clear in. As I said, the must was Pepto Bismal pink and then it fell in marble size balls to the red you see in the bottle. It was absolutely clear in less then an hour.

    Skittle Wine

I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. My Skittles wine looked like pink cream for many months. I tried the Super Clear and it had no affect. I was also trying to clear a Pumpkin Spice Wine and talked with my local Hop Shop. He said it may be starch that was keeping it from clearing and...

    Elderberries for sale.

Tripping around the internet the other day I found a listing for Elderberries for sale. Right now he has Goodbarn berries, and the Adams berries are now coming in. The best part is the price. He picks, cleans (95%), and freezes them for $2.50 per pound. I have 27 pounds bubbling away as we...

    Popping Corks

I added sweetener in April and kept an eye on it. It never did attempt to ferment so I didn't think it needed sorbate. It cleared nicely by July, and needing another carboy, I put the clearifier to it, and bottled it three weeks later. Oh well, I guess we pull 27 corks tonight and watch it...

    Popping Corks

Ok, I need to find out if :a1 has ever heard of this before. I started a batch of Peach, Banana wine in January, racked several times, added sweetener in April, and bottled July 15th. Last week, I had one cork fly, and two more this week. Corks flying after its been in the bottle for 3 months...

The Right Acid Level for Me?????

I have been a country wine maker for many years. Measure according to the recipe, put it in the fermenter, and let it go. I never did any measurments. Some good wine, some not so good. After being involved with this forum I have run my last several batches measuring SG and acid. My question to...

Head Space after you remove the fruit.

Ok, due to an above average crop of tomatoes this year, I am going to start another batch of Green Tomato wine tonight. I like Tom's idea regarding two fermenting buckets. I'm thinking I will make the recipe for (7) gallons with the intent of finishing off (6). What concerns me is the recipe...
