    Orchard Breezin Question

Hi to everyone. Took a hiatus from winemaking for a few years and ready to get back into it. So good to be back on here. My question is: I am currently making this Orchard Breezin kit and directions say to degas and clear on day 14. The problem is that my job is going to have me out of town...

    Apple Ale

I am making a batch of apple ale from a kit. I added 3 gallons of apple cider at the end of the boil. It has been in the secondary carboy for about 3 weeks now and I am still seeing CO2 bubbles coming up. Is this normal to still be fermenting this long ? The temp is 72 degrees. Any help...

    WineXpert WE California muscato kit

I too have been making the new Moscato kit. Did everything by the directions and am having trouble getting it to clear. It has been about 3 weeks since degassing and adding the Kieselsol. A few days ago I stirred everything again, still very cloudy. My question is would it hurt to add some...

    Planting First Grapes

As I stated earlier on, I planted 24 Blanc Dubois plants. I planted on March 12 and 16 of them are putting on leafs. 8 have done nothing. Is this normal or should I begin to worry about them. I have watered and fertilzed them per the nursery instructions. Any help or suggestion will be...

    Planting First Grapes

Thank you so much for clearing me up. One last question, with reds, once you have fermented the skins and seeds to the point you want them, you then place them in the press to get every bit of juice out of them? Thanks again for your help, John.

    Planting First Grapes

I am planting my first grapes now. I live in central Texas and am planting Blanc Dubois grapes. I am both exicited and nervous trying this. I have a little confusion about something though and hope someone on here can clear me up. I am confused about a crusher/destemmer and a press. I think...

    Beer has bitter taste

To tell you the truth, I really don't know much of that information. I have made a couple of Brewer's Best kits, the American Cream Ale and an American Light kit. I guess my question should be, if I cut the bittering hops in half, would that make it less bitter?

    Beer has bitter taste

Up to now, the only experience that I have making beer is with kits. I enjoy it but, it seems that my beer ends up with a little bit of a bitter aftertaste. I follow the instructions completely. Would it be OK to not put the entire envelope of hops in while brewing, or is that not the problem...

    First Try With Fresh Grapes

Thanks for all of the advice. I live in central Texas. I think these are more like table grapes, at least that is the way they taste. They are very sweet. I will give this a shot and once again, thanks for the help, John.

    First Try With Fresh Grapes

I have them in the freezer for now. I have another question. Could you boil them until the skins split, like you do when making jelly, or is this a bad idea. Sorry for such questions, but I am excited about trying to make wine with fresh grapes. Thanks again for any help, John.
