    Re-Introduction!

Hi WMT! I'm not sure what happened but I had some things come up that took my like in a different direction with time - deck building, kids, work, etc. I took some time off of here and slowed down the wine production a bit. Well some of my original wines are now 1-2 years old and turned out...

    Any Ipe deck owners?

Does anyone here have an ipe deck? I'm thinking of putting one in around the pool. If you do: Do you put UV sealer on it every year or so or let it go gray? Hidden fasteners or face screw? Any issues with either? Just wanted to know what everyone thought before I place the order.

    Flavored ports and brandy?

I have 2 ports going along nicely right now. I was thinking of adding brandy to them. What do you think? If yes how much and when? Both are 3 gallons. Looking clear but I'm still bulk aging until I need the carboys again in case anything else wants to settle out. WE Chocolate Raspberry Port...

    Skeeter Yeast question

I just finished making some hard blueberry cider. I used Fermentis S-04 yeast. It started at 1.08 and it finished at 1.02. Just the right amount of sweetness left. I added some corn sugar at the end and bottled in flip-tops. It's a little carbonated and very easy drinking. If I used the same...

    Port w/ Triple Sec

I made a WE Port kit this January, actually it was my 1st kit and what got me started on this road. I had a 1/2 bottle staring at me to test it out now that it's been a while aging nicely. I know it needs more time..... The rest are stored safely away. Many mentions on here of adding...

    Bottle score!

We finally used our Groupon last night for the local winery. It was $20 for 2 glasses of wine, music cover charge included, and you keep the 2 Reidel wine glasses with the winery name etched on the bottom. We went with a bunch of friends and had a great time - music, 3 bottles of wine and wood...

    Blueberry Apple Cider

I made a batch of hard cider for a friend of mine about 6 months ago. Now he's hooked and making a couple gallons every other week. I tried one of his latest - blueberry apple cider. It was really good with just a bit of blueberry flavor. This is his recipe: 2 gallons and 1 quart of Organic...

    Grape question

My father in law has some grapes growing in his yard. He said they were Italian wine making grapes according to the other family member that planted them years ago. I tasted one this weekend and it was sour. It looked ripe compared to the other clusters. I know it probably has some time to go...

    Making Vermont Ice Cider

Found this. Wasn't sure if anyone has seen this before. Interesting read. Might try it someday. Sounds good! Anyone ever try it? Did some quick math using their formula and it will take almost 15 gallons of fresh juice to make 30 375ml bottles. That's also about 5 bushels.

    My Pee has a head!

After all this talk of sparkling pee I got the iSi Soda Siphon. Poured in very cold pee and charged it with a Co2 cart. It might be a little fizzier later but right after charging it was bubbly. Have to see later if it does more. I also looked at the iSi Twist and Sparkle which is a little...
