If I wanted to find some place to find carboys, besides craigslist, where would I want to start looking? I have a 24/7 search running on CL to notify me as soon as someone posts but usually they are "antique water bottles" for $45-100. New carboys from the LHBS are $35-45. I was thinking that SOMEWHERE some business may have them in use or retiring old ones that they may let go cheap. Like going to a bakery for buckets.
Any suggestions?

i have found some at garage sales, antique stores. in the old days they made them for lots of products, today its mostly plastic.
my last two, i bought two 5 gallon old glass ones for 10.00 each at an antigue store. good luck...keep searching

Chemical companies or distributors might be an option. I picked up 15 6.5 gallon carboys from one locally. Used to hold sulphuric acid.
