We are having alot of trouble getting the corks out of the bottles!!!

We are using FVW #9x1.5 and #9x1.75 and this week alone we broke 2 cork screws andhad to take it out in pieces. Should we be using #8 corks instead?
We are using both new bottles and used ones from commercial wines. Some friends told me they had alot of trouble removing the corks from the wine we gave them as well.
Would storage time be effected with the smaller corks?

We tried just rinsing some with Kmeta others were soaked a couple of minutes but it seems that it doesnt matter.

Help!!!

Have you used a puller instead it is a t shaped thing with
a handle and 2 prongs spread about the width of a cork. you wiggle back
and forth untill the prongs are further in the bottle than the
cork. You dont push down on the handle you walk the handle back and
forth and it will walk down the cork. After you get the hang of
it it is real easy and never break a cork off the best are
with prongs that are pretty stiff.
