It is an early year. Vines recieved a lot of sun in late May and early June.

Growing Degree Days are at 2455!!
Average year would be 2060

Marquette Grapes are at 22 Brix. Young vines and not a lot to pick, but they will start ferment today.

Cabernet Franc are starting to change color.

I've been getting the rest of my vines netted. Just wondering what the rest of you do - how far ahead of harvest do you put netting out? Do you put netting out at verison?

I usually wait until verasion to net my vines. Living in the midwest on a very vigorous site makes me wait until then. If netted too soon the vines grow right thru the nets making it very difficult to remove them.

This year has caught me off guard a bit though. My frontenac gris and marquette are starting to ripen now. I wasn't expecting that for another month yet. Mother nature can sure throw us some curves every once in awhile I quess.
