How to tell if wine is Contaminated

Hey everyone, I was wondering what are signs that the wine you've been making has been contaminated, or unsafe to drink. Im no where near this point in my current batches, and aside from a few hiccups it seems that both batches are doing well. I just wanted to know what i should look for when the time comes to determine if the wine is drinkable?
 
There are very, very few microbes out there that can both harm you and live in the high alcohol, low PH environment of wine.

I would first smell the wine, then (if it seems ok) I would do a sip/swirl/spit taste. If the wine tastes fine, then there is little chance that the wine will make you sick (unless you drink too much).
