The next Cork's Crew, The Home Winemaker's Club meeting will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. at the Wine Maker's Toy Store. We will be tasting dessert wines:Sauternes, Ice Wine, Port, Sherry and Madeira. Please bring a homemade or commercial bottle of any of the foregoing wines. Because of the diverse flavor of thesewines, the meeting will be a social rather than formal tasting. We will havea gift exchange in light of the Holiday. Please bring a wine-related gift of no more than $10.00 to exchange with club members.
If you missed our last meeting, we did not have a formal tasting. Instead, we sampled members' various Country/Fruit wines. I want to thank Tim for giving a presentation on his method of preserving fruit in plastic juice containers for later use in wine making. Because we lacked a quorum, we did not elect a new Vice President. Instead, the office will remain vacant for the remainder of the term. We will be electing new officers in January 2009. Therefore, please submit any nominations by the December 6 meeting. We will notify you of the nominations at the December 6 meeting and by newsletter.
If you have any suggestions on the direction or activities of the club in 2009, please let me know. We would like to present technical discussions of wine making at the meetings. We would appreciate any volunteers or topic suggestions.
Our first meeting of the new year will be on January 10, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. The topic will be Tuscan reds. As part of the meeting, we will be starting a club wine with a Super Tuscan kit. For those of you new to kit wine making, this would be a very good meeting for you to attend.
