Tell Tale signs that your bank .....

Tell Tale signs that your bank is on the brink of bankruptcy - You know that "free pen" they gave you when you signed your mortgage papers? The bank wants it back! - Two tellers and the manager have asked you for a loan. - Your bank charges you a fee for their chapter 13 filing. - The...

    Suggestions for a pear wine?

I would keep the SG down around 1.090, because fruit wines that are higher in alcohol content (above 13%) tend to taste like jet fuel.

What are the Pros and Cons of Filtering?

I've never used a filter on any of the wines that I've made in the past nor do I plan on purchasing one, because I use a fining agent (Kitsol 40) and I carefully rack and I've never had any issues to make me go out and purchase a filter.

    Hurricane Ike still causing grief

Naw, don't worry about feeling guilty, because hurricanes are a pain in the rump for everyone. I'm still living in the same area that was affected by the storm. I live 40 minutes north of New Orleans and we didn't get flooded, just a lot of wind damage and went without power for almost a month...

    Hurricane Ike still causing grief

Several years ago when Hurricane Katrina hit my area, the storm really turned life upside down for us. Nothing worked for weeks and when the power finally got restored to most of the area, we had to deal with all the traffic from New Orleans, because our area rebounded quicker than New Orleans...

    MINNESOTA...PICK YOUR OWN GRAPES

I wish vineyards in my area would allow people to pick wine grapes, but unfortunately they don't. I've called a couple of vineyards and they won't even sell grapes. Edited by: SouthernMan

    Hello Everyone

Thank you very much There is a small U-pick farm on Hwy 41 near my home that has some muscadine vines. I went out there late last month, but none of the muscadines was ripe yet. They should be ripe for picking now.

    fermentation temperature

I control fermentation temperature by taking a new Rubbermaid garbage can, cut away most of it with a handsaw so I can place my 6 gal fermenter bucket in the bottom of the garbage can. I pour enough cool water around the fermenter to keep it from floating and whenever the temperature rises in...

    Orange Chocolate Port Label

I agree with Joan, it is very important to save a project even if it is in the early stages of development, I've learned that fact the hard way. My computer has a battery backup so if the lights blink or go out, my computer will still have power for me to save my work. Before I purchased the...

Gotta have some Hurricane Relief Humor

Believe me, the thought raced through my mind many times to take a company generator home when I was pulling one of those large generators behind my 1 ton company truck going to a job site after Hurricane Katrina knocked out power for several weeks. My supervisor walked up to me on a job site...

Gotta have some Hurricane Relief Humor

I've got a generator and it can power most of my house except for my AC unit, but a couple of years ago, we bought a couple of small 110volt window air conditioners in case we lose power due to a hurricane and have to keep our aging wines cool. I work for a water and waste water utility...
