    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

when I make these fun wines I always break the Disaccaride bond into its sucrose and fructose components, which makes it easier for the yeasties to nom on. Science!

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

it'll be limeade, I like the flavor profile better. my thoughts were to chop up the dried cherries in cherry juice and let them rehydrate a bit before the yeast is pitched. I will let you all know how it comes out!

dried cherry DB question Has anyone tackled this using dried cherries? I have access to a few pounds of them that I was thinking of adding to my 'newpee' (skeeter pee made with Newmans Own instead of real lemon.)

    NewPee 2: Electric boogaloo

has transferred beautifully, was quite a lot of dead at the bottom. moreso than last batch. has been tasted :dg has been deemed "dangerous" by DH :d Rain has shown up again here in Southern California with cool temperatures which is likely why the Newpee didn't go anywhere. it's alright...

    NewPee 2: Electric boogaloo

it's going alright, ferment seems to have slowed down, not very much C02 is coming out of solution when I give it air. will transfer to secondary in two days. unsure if will get to dry by when I need it, but I won't mind if it's still on the sweet side, will just mean I won't have to backsweeten...

    NewPee 2: Electric boogaloo

Lessons learned from the first batch, this batch has no added water. supplies: 20 containers of Newmans Own Limeade (2 were lemonade because my short little t-rex arms couldn't reach) 14 # sugar (SG 1.140, aiming for 18%) Kv1116 (my LBS was out of 118) Energizer and Nutrient at...

    What R you doing today?

going to start a batch of Dragons Blood probably next week. our Lime skeeter pee has mellowed out quite a bit in the short time it's rested. Hub was rear-ended on the 3rd. been playing phone tag with insurance to find out what they want to do but are taking their time because the other driver...

    Newman's own Pee

some sediment falls out of it, but even when it's mixed up nice and clear. mostly pulp it seems.

    Newman's own Pee

all finished, backsweetened and added two cans of frozen limeade concentrate because it was kind of bland.

    first batch noob question

uh oh. from my understanding sparkloid is pretty easy to get back into the mix. sounds like you're going to either filter it out or let it make lees again and clear out.

    first batch noob question

we degassed it what I felt was adequate. ran drill for a second or so, stop, reverse, on and off for about 10 mins until no new bubbles were coming out of solution. tbohling: if she's all done rack it off the lees at the bottom into another container, Kmeta/sorbate it and degass then added...

    first batch noob question

ok ok... last question.. mostly will I be able to see to the bottom of the secondary bucket when we hit clear? I took a peek at it and with a flashlight can see through it but see floaties in it as well (mostly looks like pulp) will give it the rest of the week to clear.

    Strawberry

    that sounds amazingly tasty.

    first batch noob question

racked, stabilized and sparkolloidified. Airlock is pushed to one side but no bloops unless I press on the domed lid of the bucket. Definately want a carboy or two now, I want to see the magic happen. :dg

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

given enough time It may fall clear from my understanding. the Sparkloid just makes it happen faster. the degassing helps it to clear faster as well. just what i've picked up.

    Newman's own Pee

A little warmth did her good. Dropped down a good bit. Not quite to .990 but close enough for me. Racked, stabilized and sparkloidified. Was surprised how much had fallen to the bottom of the bucket. Not using a carboy so will see what clear looks like...
