    Muscadine

    Jeff, muscadines dont keep or travel well when compaired to other grapes. so bone up on how to keep and haul them. also consider obtaining them in Arkansas on your return home. probaly will need to ice them down in a big cooler ( i dont know for sure ) JC

    the brew belt can be used with a common light dimmer switch and a reciptcal and plug to adjust/very the must temp. easier than sliding the belt up and down. brew belt is a 40 watt resistance device just lile a light bulb with out the light. JC

    Horric, Wade is telling you the good stuff. I'd go with the all juice kit especally if that is a MM kit. I made the WE red ice wine cab franc and it turned out much sweeter than i had expected, i like sweet wine but this is like 13%abv grape pancake syurp! it's ok, it's just SWEET. JC

    the local wine and homebrew equipment suplier ( mostly mail/e-mail ) sells an over priced primary with big spin on lidand a spigot. it is 9 gal found the same thing at pet-s-mart as a dog food bin. JC

    pineapple wine

    my "smeller" aint the best, so i got OWHN to come down an give a critical nose. at first she said it had a slight sewer smell but that seemed to go away when we let it "breath" a while. she said it had a sweet smell but not much of a pineapple smell. maybe i'm hollerin' before i'm hurt again...

    Well this is a fine mess i've gotten me into stanley ! This stuff finished fermenting in short order ( sg 0.990 ) but it smelled funny ( awful ). let it set a while. racked it off the lees again to new glass. still smelled awful. not geranium smell. Super Kleered it. the 1/2 gal jug cleared...

    Bert, i think i hollered before i was hurt. checked the sg on the 5th day,it was 1.005 ! so racked it off gross lees to glass. those sneeky little yeasties were quiet with low foam, fooled me. thanks JC

    YES, 3 days with yeast. gonna' go add 1/4 tsp. some non-pineapple receipts call for 1/2 to 1 tsp for a 5 Gal batch. 1/4 tsp sounds good to me. JC

    Brew Belt Moderator

    Jim, i used a handfull of 3/8" dowel rods, but if you moved any thing, it was pick-up sticks. like your idea better. still think i'll try a dimmer switch here this comming winter, should work ok, those belts are 40 watts, not much draw. JC
