Other Diamanti milk chocolate strawberry port style

Really? That doesn't sound right. Mine smelled like a chocolate orange candy bar. I ordered 2 more that are still in the box. I hope they are the same as what I had before. It's a huge hit and it's hard to keep from opening them! Send them a sample and see what they say.

40L bladder press vs. WinEasy press

The only downside I see to the wineeasy is not being able to use it in different size vessels if you have some already.

    What R you doing today?

Well it's been quite a while - maybe over a year of bulk aging? I have to check my notes. Bottled - chardonnay, a white (again, note fell off the carboy but it's in the computer) and a merlot. Might drink the merlot tonight with dinner. Now I need to finish cleaning everything and helping get...

    Chianti juice bucket help

I haven't opened a bottle in many months. I'll have to give one a try and let you know how it is now. I would have to dig out my notes to check on any readings I may have taken. I remember it being nice but it didn't wow me. Maybe another year helped it out...

why transfer from fermenting container to carboy?

Not sure with pineapple wine but grape wine and most others the first racking is to get the wine off the lees. The lees are the heavy yeast stuff on the bottom. If left on there to long they will give the wine a bad taste. In the bucket the yeast give off so much CO2 that it protects the wine...

    So proud! My first wine

Congrats. Both look great... Now that the first one is done it starts taking over :)

    Getting Juice Buckets AND Grapes?

I never meant to use table grapes. I was just mentioning crappy store grapes are the same price as real grapes with real flavors.

    Getting Juice Buckets AND Grapes?

Stop & shop gets $2lb for table grapes so if that doesn't seem bad. That's only $1 extra per bottle to improve the wine. It's about quality right? If you want cheap wine the you get those 4 week kits.

    DIY Stir Plate for Titrations

Cool thanks. I have some computers that I was about to get rid of too. And about 20 hard drive magnets - that's how I wipe drives for clients. More fun than a program....

Survey: vacuum chamber for wine degassing

I use about 20-25" and it only takes at most 10 minutes to degas. How much faster could it take? I have no idea why anyone would let it run for days. Sometimes I think I am overdoing it too once those bubbles change. Am I wrong?

The best "fries" you will ever eat! And healthy to boot!

I am going to give this one a try. Thanks

    Which sink?

Double sinks would be great. Love the hose idea too. I have one like your plastic one and the faucet is just a couple inches to short to make it easy. I always have to tip the carboys or buckets to get the under it.

RJ Spagnols RJS Orange Choc Port

I try to hide 6 bottles of everything so they are forgotten. I Need to do this soon with my ports or there won't be any left to hide. Mine are from 2010/2011 and getting better.

BOGO! BOGO! Coastal white - no limit!

I hate you!!!! :) I may have to jump on that. Never had a white burgundy.

    Degassing wine with mentos

If you could rig it up right maybe you could degass and "power rack" at the same time.

    checking sg

I return mine most of the time. Maybe an ounce gets sampled. Just make sure you sanitize the jar so you don't put any bad stuff back in the batch.

    Degassing without vacuum

I was using the back and forth with the spoon and it took forever. I think for about $50 you can get a vacuum pump and with some ingenuity you can degas easily. Harbor freight makes some. I have not tried them. I have one for woodworking. It's so easy to degass and rack and bottle with a vacuum...

    Caribbean Hot Sauce

This sounds great. I will have to give this a try.

    washing bottles

I rinse and/or scrub if necessary. Then when they are clean I splash kmeta into and then drip on a bottle tree. Grab and fill. Really dirty bottles or ones with labels not coming off easy get tossed.

Packlab Help figuring ABV on port?

This has been my favorite kit to date that I've made. From opening the bag the smell is awesome. It was good enough to buy 2 more so I can do a double batch next time. I finished mine with 3/4 bottle of brandy. I think it is about 17% so you're pretty close.
