    Wineexpert wine kits

I am certain this was just a bad kit and not a fair example of their stuff. Nevertheless I did expect them to honour their commitment to replace it. So far all I got is promises but no follow up. Now they won't even respond anymore, not sure I want to deal with a company that does this. I ll be...

    Wineexpert wine kits

"Excellent reputation for customer service" . Well I kind of thought so in the beginning when they showed interest but now I am beginning to think it has lost interest in this area. Too bad I was looking forward to using their sherry product since none else seems to sell it anymore.

    Wineexpert wine kits

Anyone have experience with this company? I bought one of their sherry kits and followed it although their instructions seemed not ordinary from other kit makers. Well, the kit failed, I could not achieve the sg in and tried hard as I can to get it going with no luck. Contacted company and...

    Wine goes frizzy?

I keep the wine in my cold cellar which maintains a cold temp of 10 to 12 deg C. I think in this case the problem was that I bottled too soon and didn't do a good job. Although the wine was clear and the SG was below 1. In my other batches I waited another two to three weeks and racked the...

    Wine goes frizzy?

Thanx. You're right, I do ask a lot, forgive the bad habit. I have been lucky so far in my winemaking so when I hit a snag it catches me off guard. Will be more careful next batch. Thanx all for your help.

    Wine goes frizzy?

Thanx, I am thinking a little more patience on my part would have been necessary. Unfortunately I already started dumping the wine, worried it may be spoiled. I will be picking up a new batch soon to get it started for late summer use. I always worry about leaving it too long in the carboy. Any...

    Wine goes frizzy?

I took hydrometer readings at every step and followed my process as I had done at least 10 batches earlier, all were excellent results. One more item. When I started this batch I started three others at the same time, one was also Pinot Grigio, the other two were reds. The second Pinot Grigio...

    Wine goes frizzy?

A few weeks ago I bottled my wine, Pinot Grigio, which I made from pure juice from a local supplier. Done this many times with excellent results. The ph before I bottled was perfect and I gave it another week anyway. I just started opening the bottles to drink but I noticed the wine has gone...

I think I messed up but not sure how

That's the problem, i started the batch fast due to other things and didn't pay much attention although i am certain it was low in the juice which is why i suspect the low sg reading. Oh well, i think i will keep it going and hope for the best. Thanx for everyone's help.

I think I messed up but not sure how

Actually it is a 3 gallon kit (10 L) and i only added about a cup of water to reach the 3 gallon mark in the primary fermentor. It comes with a large juice bag and a small reserve bag. I only used the large bag at this point. My concern is if i started the yeast too soon, before the juice...

I think I messed up but not sure how

I started a new batch of Port the other day, moved a little fast for many reasons, I took SG reading and it was about 1.020, didn't think much about it, added yeast etc and put it away. Now 5 days later I took another reading and it is at 1.000 but it hit me all of a sudden, my starting SG was...

    Vineco Kenridge Port

The Kit is PORT. Not sure what grapes they're using. It does state the sweetness at 8 and I expect the wine to be somewhat sweet, i am just trying to see if the add on (small) bag they give you should be added in small parts and tested for sweetness or do i really need the whole bag. I a...

    Vineco Kenridge Port

Just started this batch and its my first trial at Port. Had a lot of success with their wine kits so i figured i'd try the Port and Sherry. One thing that worries me, the kit includes a flavour bag which may make the port way too sweet. I had this problem with a Pinot kit that included a kit...

Low SG and seems like low alcohol

Thanx for the quick reply. I am guessing that the juice has already gone through some fermentation and which is why the sg level is so low, and of course the hydrometer may be giving me a false reading since i do not know what it was really measuring when they first stabilized the juice...

Low SG and seems like low alcohol

I have been buying already crushed grapes from a local vendor who assures me that the juice is ready for fermenting as it has been balanced with whatever sugar etc it needs. The last batch i purchased i measured the SG and it recorded 1.040 and then after fermentation and stabilizing, the sg...
