    Today was a fun day!

Hobby HomeBrew. 30 labels for about $9, and are supposed to be easy to remove. Highly recommend wiping the bottles before applyin, as they don’t stick on super hard. They are definitely removable.

    Today was a fun day!

I’ve got friends and family that usually want a bottle, so I try to label them. It’s kinda just an added cost that does nothing for the wine, other than giving it a little wow factor to the package it’s in. Here's a few of my other labels I have that are custom made. They are also a reusable...

    Today was a fun day!

I bottled my last two batches of wine for the winter. A Chardonnay and a Raspberry/Dragonfruit/Shiraz kit from WineXpert. And today, some of my labels came in the mail, and UPS delivered my new wine rack from Vevor. Inexpensive rack, made of bamboo, and fit really tight together. Holds 72...

    Pineapple wine and filtering

I tell you what, the finings did a very good job in my opinion. Giving it a few hard twists during that period, removed the sediment that stuck on the walls of the Carboy. The recipe I used called for filtering after fining….i don’t see any real purpose for that. Another interesting thing I...

    Pineapple wine and filtering

Mine is not overly sweet, and somewhat lite in flavor. I did a second sugar feeding during the secondary fermentation. I realized I made a slight mistake by using the wrong Carboy, so had to add pineapple juice to top it off. Overall, for the first batch of pineapple, I will definitely make it...

    Pineapple wine and filtering

I opted not to filter but added some bentonite, let it set for 12 days, gave it a hard twist halfway thru, and it came out quite clear. I got a plate filter that was absolute junk. After 10 minutes, I gave up on filtering, it proved to be a complete waste of time and money. Sent it back for a...

    What's in your glass tonight?

Just bottled a pineapple wine and a valiant grape wine yesterday! Finished off what did not fit in the bottles, which was more than I probably needed. My wife and I each had a glass of each. The pineapple turned out great and is high alcohol from a second sugar feeding. The valiant grape turned...

    Foxy wine

My second batch is progressing very nicely. Things I learned from the first batch, don’t primary the skins and seeds in the must….at least that seems to be the major culprit with valiant grapes. I also added some frozen grape juice to the primary, which seems to have given it some body…about 4...

    Pineapple wine and filtering

What is an economical filter, or filter system, to clear out pineapple wine. My recipe book also suggests filtering with a chokecherry wine, which I plan on next year. Thoughts and experiences?

    Foxy wine

I’ve learned a new thing…it’s called patience! After more than a month since bottling, the aging along with the addition of oak chips, has turned my first batch into something pleasantly drinkable. Learning some of my missteps, I believe my next batch will be even better.!

    Pineapple wine

Started my first batch of pineapple wine. Using a recipe out of the same book, used by a local winery. Like that the instructions are really clear. I’m hoping this will help me branch out in my wine making journey.
