Netting question

I cover my Marachal Foch and Oberlin Noir with the bird netting sold by Double A. While it saves my crops it is a real pain to take off. After the first year I learned to wait until the last possible moment to put it on....which did OK with the Foch...but the Oberlin is ver vigorous and I still had a heck of a time getting the netting off. The vines grow right through it, as much as a couple feet of growth in some places even though I didn't put it on until the grapes started to change color.

Is this just the price one pays for using netting or is there a trick I'm missing?
