Have you seen those racks at WallyWorld [WalMart] for roasting chickens with a can??? They work great...

All you need is The Rack, The Bird and a Beverage of your choice..half full....half empty

Put the can in the rack, slip the bird over it....

Those are veggies in the foil Hobo packs.

Place it on the grill on medium heat for about 1 1/2 hours....basting occasionally with butter and olive oil...

SUPPER IS READY WHEN THE SMOKE DETECTOR GOES OFF!!!!

Noticed the gas fire was out...shook the propane cylinder, tried to relight the grill..it lit fine....THEN... in about 5 minutes there was much smoke...the grill had malfunctioned and got so hot all the grease inside was on fire...we rescued the little black bird and veggies and removed the grill from the side of the house...[thank goodness for steel siding], no damage done...sorry no photos in all the excitement!!!

Bert [the fireman] would have been proud...tossed the flaming grease trays into the yard and the meal was fine....think we must need a new regulator????

Glad to hear there was no other damage! It could have been really bad. It looks good in your last photo.

I'm glad to hear things worked out OK.....unwanted fire can be a scary thing to deal with.....the chicken looked great

How was your appetite after that ordeal? Must have been scary.

Nothing like a good grilled chicken, but some of the new ones they put out are really full of fat. I put one on the grill today on the rotiserie and ran out of gas before it was done, but the dripping grease kept it cooking at 425 for another 15 minutes until it was done to perfection. I put on some Mojjo as a dry rub and sprinkled black pepper and oregano on it until done. Very good chicken. Had sone string beans, new potatoes, pearl onions and some Wildberry Shiraz with it.5 pound bird- 5 people= very few leftovers.

Chlicken made that way is the best. Sorry about the big flare up!! That is such a no fuss dinner having the veggies in the foil too. Hope you could enjoy a little wine while you were waiting.

Looks Great!! Ramona

Dinner was great...just had to take the skin off the little bugger...
The gas for sure malfunctioned...like a blow torch....going to have to give it a good cleaning, clean the orifices and check it out real good before using it again...
We caught it right away and actually thought it was realy funny at first, but could have cause some damage to the side of the house if we wouldn't have been paying atttention...
