Well as soon as George gets me my latest order I'll be busy, busy,
busy! I'll be starting 6 gal of hard apple cider. 1 gal of
rasberry and 1 gal of strawberry. I cant wait! I guess I'm at the mercy
of the USPS, so until then I'll have to pacifiy my wine making urges
with raking my citrus melomel that has been in the glass for a week.
It's clearing up nicely and dropped most all it's lees. I'm going to
check the sg and rack tonight. I'll post progress on the new batches as
soon as I start (Which will be about 30 secs after the mailman gets my
stuff to me).

Oh well, I guess I've been foiled by the mailman again.(Or should I say
the fed ex man). The tracking sight says delivery on the 26th even
though they were suposed to have the package to me on Friday. Does
anyone else have this problem with deliveries. I emailed George about
it and at least he will get refunded. Maybe he will send me a little
something for alerting him and getting him a refund, heheheehehahaha.
Only kidding George! I guess it's going to be Monday for the start day.
I only hope I get out of work early enough to have the energy to start
my labor of love!

Everyone should let George know when delivery is late. Most carriers
guarantee delivery times and offer refunds for late delivery.

Well I have my yeast and stuff from George. I'll be going to the
grocery store in a little while to pick up some frozen fruit. I'll be
adding some rubarb to the strawberry wine and possibly the apple cider.
I wish that I had another primary so I could start a niagra!

Stay tuned for the show...start 3 wines at the same time. Not since the
Ringling Bros. has such a feat been attempted. It will be the one to
watch. Way better than Nick at night....

I have tried UPS, DHL and FedEx and I use FedEx for a reason. My experience with them has been extraordinary. I do have an occassional problem, but my failure rate with FedEx is about5 packages per 1,000 boxes. My failure rate with UPS was 1 package per 50 boxes and DHL was 1 in 20.

In addition, a lot of the problems for UPS and FedEx relate to where the package is delivered. With FedEx, I have the most difficulty with the states west of the Rockies. I use to have problems with shipments to Florida, but FedEx seemed to have fixed that problem.

UPS was good at getting the package delivered. I just had a whole lot more damaged boxes and given the option between filing a claim for a delivery failure versus damaged is like night and day. Given the options, getting a package safely from point A to point B more than offsets damaged goods.

That is also why you get so many peanuts in your box. I would rather have another root canal than file a claim. And if you think filing a claim with UPS or FedEx is fun, just try filing one with a trucking company

As long as I continue to have minimal delivery issues with FedEx, I will continue to use them as my primary carrier. If you have an issue with FedEx in your area, please let me know and I will gladly ship your packages via UPS. They come by the store everyday asking for packages.

Sorry George ....no offence!!! All I am saying is if someone gets a
late shipment to let you know. I dont think I've ever gotten a
shippmenton time here from anyone. My wife has an internet based
buisness and gets refunds frome almost every shipper.

No offense taken.

I just like my visitors to know why I do what I do and I saw your post as an opportunity to explain why I use FedEx. As you may have noticed, I like to use this method to provide more insight into my way of doing business. There is a method to my madness.

Geo-

It's only been a couple of times (and more to come!) but FedEx ground (I think that's what you've used to me) has been both FAST and GREAT service! I think one big order was 3 days and the other 4, and the price is better for FEDEX Ground, I think... a day or two more, for less shipping cost is fine (FINE VINES!) by me!

(...and they GOTTA be driving right by Gillette to get to me!)

George, that was an interesting response.

As a customer, I always think in terms of geting MY package on time.
You have to think in terms of failure rates as a whole. Of course the lower the rate, the more satisified customers you have.

The same is true I suppose on the process for recovering from error. The
harder a delivery company makes you work, a) the less time you have to
deal with your customers and b) the longer it takes to correct the problem
for your customer.

I wish Star Trek was true. Then you could just beam the goods to the
right location. Even if you could you'd probably find it worked for
everything in the universe except for wine because it would do something
to the Chitosan to make it go off quicker.

Wait a minute!!!! Star Trek isn't true???? Next you'll be telling me
there isn't any such thing as Santa or the Easter Bunny. Ha, what a
joker

Any way I got my 6 gal. of cider started last night along with 1 gal of
rasberry. Tonight I'll be starting 1 gal of strawberry rhubarb. I
wanted to start them all at the same time but it was 1:30 am when I had
the rasberry all set and I forgot my rhubarb at work and there was no
way I was heading back to the shop then. I'll post a few pics later.

Thanks George for your patience with me and as always your customer service is second to none!

Live long and prosper!

Pete
