I should make a disclaimer that I am pretty old so when I was a kid there was no such thing as a computer so people only knew what they learned in school. So now adays most know we dont live in igloos but still most dont know where any of our major cities are located. I live in Calgary and many...

We in Canada are used to that. So many Americans think we live in igloos. I remember when I was a kid I talked to people up here on holiday from the US and they were shocked we had regular homes and hot weather. One family I met had to go out and buy all new clothes cause they only brought...

    Tip: carboy drying

We have always just added kmeta to the carboys and covered them in food wrap to keep clean with kmeta still inside. Mind you we have been making wine pretty steady last few years. I plan on taking a break from wine making for a couple of years as I now have over 500 bottles and I live alone...

    The Bread Thread

I have recently learned that almost all wheat producers in Canada and US use roundup before harvesting. I have been making bread for years with wheat flour but this turns me right off. Does anyone have any good recipes for non wheat bread? I know I could use organic flour but its so expensive...

    What would you make?

I am a big fan of the RJS En Premier kits. I like the big reds best. I just finished tasting the Malbec and even at only 15 months aging its really good. The Super Tuscan is also excellent and the Amarone is very good. All RJS En Premier brand. I am also from Canada and we can get all the RJS...

    Best Argentinian Malbec Kit available

we made the RJS En Primeur Malbec about 15 months ago and recently sampled a bottle. It is really good imo, and I am exited to hear it will get a lot better. I had some other wine drinkers over and they were very impressed as well. I leave my reds for 18 months before I drink other than samples.

RJ Spagnols Temperature for kit wine making

I have mostly made RJS kits but we have recently been making a couple of WinXpert and Vineco kits and I am wondering about a difference in the directions that I recently noticed. We generally make the kits in a controlled temp space around 22 deg C, and then after we put in the clearing agents...

WineXpert Limited Release Apres Chocolate Raspberry Dessert Wine Kit

How long would you recommend aging them? I am thinking at least a year would be good, so in time for next xmas. I will bottle in small batches and plan on trying them next fall so I will know if I want five different batches next year or if there is some I like better than others. They smell...

WineXpert Limited Release Apres Chocolate Raspberry Dessert Wine Kit

I am also making 5 batches of these wines, one of each to try this year. The kit comes with 2 yeast for each kit so I am thinking there must be a reason. I used both yeast packages for mine, but dont know how they would be using only one.

    red blend ideas

We were talking about this. Has anyone tried blending wine kits with any success or is it just better to buy premade blends
