    Skeeter Auction

Just thought I'd share this tidbit... I was at a trapping convention over the past few days and attended an auction to raise a few dollars for the organization promoting the convention and their activities.. The auction consisted of items that vendors at the convention donated. There wasn't...

Dragon's blood sure does look pretty

It is nice to just look at. My first batch. For some reason my sg got lower than other wines, ~ .984 - .986. And, it did not require hardly any degassing. Anyone know why this would be?

    A very noob question...

I have been told that there is no such thing as a stupid question. I know that this isn't true because I have asked and heard a boatload. Not sure about this one but here goes anyway... What is a "balanced" wine?

    Just bottled a few....

These have been sitting in carboys fora while and I had a bit of a window to bottle them over the past couple days. I made the pineapple pear from a WE kit with a couple tweaks, the pinot from a fontana kit using some of the tweaks on this forum, and the concord using welch's. I won't be...

    Foamy wine

    First batch at skeeter...

I haven't had any "skeeter before, but I've tried hard lemonade from the local packy and mine is way better if I do say so myself. We'll have a few now but probably save the bulk for summer. Alot of fun making it and learned a few things in the process.

    Backsweetening / sorbate

Hey guys. I have a batch of skeeter in the carboy. Last week the SG was about .992 so I added a little less than 2 teaspoons sorbate (BSG says .3 tsp per gallon, 6 gallon batch) to stabilize so I can backsweeten before bottling. A week later and it still seems to be fermenting as there are...

    Welch's sulfites question

Hey y'all. Newbie question. I mixed up a 6+ gallon batch today and added some sugar syrup and welch's white grape concentrate to up the sg, but, suffering from stupidity, I forgot to check the ingredients of the welch's until after I added it. It contains sulfites. I used 2 cans of the...

    New guy in CT

Hello everyone. I am pretty new to wine making, but I have been meandering through the forums here learning, so I need to extend my gratitude. Thank you for all of your unsolicited advice. It is greatly appreciated. I did my first kit over a year ago, and have done about 5 or 6 batches...
