    Additive storage containers.....

Figured I would put plastic wrap over the mouth of the jar. That should protect it.

How many gallons of Lon D's Skeeter Pee have been made?

    4019+5 = 4024 doing my first batch!

    Additive storage containers.....

So I bought 1 pound bags of tannin, nutrient, k-meta, and energizer. I’d like to transfer them into something other than the plastic bags they came in. For A) ease of getting to, and B) to keep the contents from spilling out. I was thinking of 1/2 pint size mason jars. Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Wine Rack

Made this from 2 - 4x8 sheets of plywood. Took about a week but I think it turned out pretty good. Holds around 180 bottles! Total cost was under $50!!

    Equipment storage

Hoses, spoons, siphons, strainer bags, etc... get stored in a 5 gallon bucket after they are cleaned and sanitized. I also spray a few squirts of K-meta in the bucket and seal the lid up. For my additives, thermometer, hydrometer, measuring spoons, I have a small 6"x12" Tupperware holder that...

    Bentonite question

It has cleared fairly well. Giving it one more week then I’ll rack and bottle. Pictures to follow!

    Who’s your go-to place?

So, besides your local brew shop, who I try to stop by as much as I can, who do you turn to for your supplies. Let’s face it, our local shops aren’t always the cheapest but they are convenient. I’ve been going to www.midwestsupplies.com for the bigger purchases as they offer free shipping on...

    Labels

That’s what I’ve been doing but didn’t know if there was another, better way. Thank you.

    Sometimes bad is actually good.....

Thank you everyone for the feedback on the refractometer. It’s always a learning experience here!

    Labels

So I have extreme OCD when it comes to making anything presentable. Is there a trick, or jig I can build to put labels on straight?

    Sometimes bad is actually good.....

Will do. It looks like there is a "nut" where the plunger hits the cork that is adjustable. Looks very easy, can't wait to try some #9's out finally. Been stuck using #8's since they are much easier to put in with the old hand corker. I'll let you all know!

    Sometimes bad is actually good.....

Well had that been true than the second reading would show the same thing as it was used on the super sugar method wine that is being bottled next week and has approximately 14% alcohol.

    Sometimes bad is actually good.....

So it finally arrived today! Of course I was in the middle of a plumbing project to update my wine sink downstairs. Had a mess everywhere......but got it done and unboxed my gifts!! Can not wait to use it next week on my super sugar method wine! Along with the corner I also ordered a...

    Sometimes bad is actually good.....

Dang, both of those are good deals. I got the red one off Amazon and added a refractometer. Shipped was under $100! And Friday my vacuum pump should be here so besides a few more car boys, I should be set for a small bit! Thank you everyone for the help!

    Sometimes bad is actually good.....

Nope! I’ve read enough about them, ordering it tomorrow from Amazon. Should be here early next week which is perfect timing!

    Bentonite question

Well I put in 6 TBS of the mixture and stirred it good. I’ll give it a few days and see if I need to add any additional. Figured I can always add to it, but not remove it.

    Sometimes bad is actually good.....

Yeah, I wanted one after the first batch I corked with the double lever, but I felt like I would be wasting my money. Best I’ve found so far was for $71 on Amazon.

    Sometimes bad is actually good.....

Well, I was downstairs going through my over 3 year old stuff seeing what needed replaced (so happy I’m getting back into this wonderful hobby). Of course all my tubing was junk just sitting in a box, mesh bag got tossed, then I came to my double lever hand corker......main shaft rusted...
