Ha. I live in MD. I'll look into Harford Vineyards and juicegrape.com I know several people who have found that being responsible for producing the grapes was way to much work! Thank you for your recommendations heatherd !!

    Adding water after Fermentation ended

Thank you all for your comments. I will add to taste. I'm just sorry I made the earlier mistake. Live and you learn. Heatherd - that's an impressive list of wines. Is this time of year a good time to purchase the grape juices from Chili. I have a friend who only makes wine from that source and...

    Adding water after Fermentation ended

Hey, I'm on my 4th batch of raspberry wine. I just fermented 2 gallons(6 days). The receipt called for 3 gallons which I followed correctly except for water. Can I add tap water to the must to make up the difference? Thanks for your help Jeff

    Burping my one gallon carboys

Hey all, I have 3 - 1 gallon jugs of raspberry wine almost ready to bottle. How best to burp? I've been corking and shaking and releasing Co2, but it seems like it's taking forever and it's still foamy when I shake it. Do I have to remove all of the gas so the corks don't explode while...

Hello, This is my third posting on this site and I wanted to thank all of you for helping me understand the finer points of wine making. New question: I have 2 batches in the second primary stage. In both batches, I drained the overage in to quart-size mason jars and covered with a breathable...

    Oak chips weren't sterilized:(

I just transferred a 1 gallon batch of raspberry wine to the secondary fermenter, when I realized I added french oak chips in with the fruit when loading the bag. I did pour 7 pints of boiling water over it. But that's it. Can someone tell me what I should expect moving forward? Thanks a lot...

    Sugar to Fruit ratio question

Ok, I will. Thanks. I was hoping to hear that about the flavor! Also, I used one, 5 gram packet of champaign yeast in my first batch. Do I need to reconsider the amount this time? Thanks again for your help!

    Sugar to Fruit ratio question

Hello, I'm on my second go-round making raspberry wine. I was pleased with the first batch - although it tasted a little watery. Currently I have 4.5 lbs of raspberries sitting in the first primary with 7 pints of water. I boiled in 3 lbs of sugar prior to pouring over the berries...

    Corks have risen!

Thank you all for your input. There has been no cork movement in over 24 hours - with the biggest offender still only sticking out 1/4". The others are around 1/8" higher, than when we first corked them. I'll wait another day and then I'm going to trim the excess and call it a day. I will...

    Corks have risen!

Corks are rising Thx again for all the responses. The corks haven't budged in 24hrs. I think it's because they're dry. (They weren't in the boiling water for a minute or 2.) The worst offender is sticking out just under a quarter of an inch. I'm going to wait another day, then plan on...

    Corks have risen!

I started this batch in mid july. The corks haven't moved since overnight. Could they be dry and can I push them back down? They're only out, at worst, 1/4" Thanks for your comments

    Corks have risen!

Help! We bottled 12 bottles of raspberry wine last night. after a considerable effort to burp the co2 out of it. But the corks all have rising slightly over night. We boiled the corks before using them, so they were damp when we corked the bottles. What can I expect will happen now? Thanks...
