    WineXpert 5 galls not 6

Both fermented out to 0.95 ish. Both quite sweet, and they do taste too powerful.

    WineXpert 5 galls not 6

I finally got my daughter interested in wine making so I gave her a Winexpert Malbec and a Winexpert Riesling kit. I offered to help starting the kits, but she wanted to go alone. She started 2 weeks ago and I visited after she had racked into carboys but something did not look right. It...

    New to juice buckets

Update on my juice buckets. I picked up 3 buckets of Carménère and 3 buckets of Petite Sirah in April/May. I started the Carménère immediately I arrived home and placed the Petite Sirah in cold storage for a month. I bottled the Carménère a few weeks ago and intend bottling the Petite...

    New to juice buckets

I racked the the 3 pails of Chilean Carménère for the 4th time and now have them aging for 3 months or so. I ended up with approx 18 ¾ gallons of wine. The oak spirals worked well, a bit tricky to get them out of the carboy but after a lot of carboy shaking they came out. I will be starting...

I did a really stupid thing

I should really post this in the beginner’s forum. I just bottled 18 gallons of Pinot Noir that had been aging for 3 months in 3 carboys. I racked the wine and added some Meta bisulphate to each carboy before bottling. My usual steps are that I fill a bucket with water as I do not have a...

Solid bung or bung with airlock for aging

Norcal - Do you use the silicon vented bung for all stages of the wine making process in place of a conventional airlock?

Solid bung or bung with airlock for aging

I have always used a bung with an airlock for the 3 - 6 months of aging that I do, for the all the kits I have made. I still occasionally glance at the instructions that come with the kits, and as I was racking the Winexpert Lodi Cab Friday I noticed for the first time that the instructions...

    New to juice buckets

As usual great information from this group. Thanks Regarding the oaking, I have some oak spirals that I want to use. First time for me using the spirals, any tips using them that may be different that using cubes? I was thinking of adding them during aging. How do you recommend attaching them...

    New to juice buckets

I picked up 3 pails of Chilean Carménère and 3 pails of Chilean Petite Sirah yesterday. I started the Carménère this morning and put the Petite Sirah in a cooler for several weeks until I can start it. Anyone have any thoughts on adding oak to either of these 2 wines?

WineXpert New article on choosing a wine kit

A well written and informative article. I would suggest replacing the word chemicals, with fining agents and antioxidants.

    Free Wine making Class

This looks like a great workshop. Any chance of it being taped for future reference, for those that do not live nearby?

    New to juice buckets

All of the wine kits I made came with BENTONITE & ISINGLASS as the fining agents. Any recommendations as to what Fining agent to use for the juice buckets? Djrockinsteve suggests SPARKLOID in his Basic Juice fermenting Guide. I have never used that.

    WineXpert Vieux Chateau du Roi

Anyone tried the Winexpert (Selection) Vieux Chateau du Roi. I was thinking of adding it to my list of wines to make.

    WineXpert WinExpert Shiraz comments wanted

So it was 1 1/2 years ago that I asked opinions on the Winexpert Shiraz selections. I finally ordered the Eclipse Barossa Valley Shiraz. I have been busy and had other wines that I needed to get started. How time flies. Not sure when I will start it as I want to try a couple of Juice buckets...

    REVIEW: *allinonewinepump*

I have been using the All In One Wine Pump for nearly 2 years now and I am really pleased on how well it works. I have racked, and bottled approximately 60 cases of wine since owning it, and it has worked without any problems. I would recommend it to everyone, and I would agree with others that...
