    Bottles

We just discovered our LHBS sells used bottles from a local winery for $3 per case. It takes about 15 minutes to scrape the labels off so it's well worth it!

    Acid Titration Kit

I've had an acid titration kit sitting with my wine equipment for about 2 months but I've been too intimidated to try it until today. Is it really as easy as the instructions make it seem? Any hints?

    JW's Inspiration OCP

I'm racking mine next weekend, so I'll update the post. I did sneak a taste this weekend and it was excellent. Very chocolatey and hot, but not too much of the orange came through, other than the nose. I think it'll be amazing after several months of aging.

    What R you doing today?

Today is bottling day. My husband and I are bottling 6 gallons of Blackberry Concord, 6 gallons of Strawberry Pineapple SK, and my husband's black currant stout. Then tomorrow I get to start filling those carbons again!

    Recommendation for applying wine capsules

I use the heat gun and it works great - takes only a few seconds to do each bottle. I picked mine up from Michaels craft store and I think it was about $10 after coupon.

    This time of year

Aldi's also has a triple berry mix of blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries for $1.49. And you can't beat their prices on their juice concentrates - I got their 100% concord juice for $1.19/can.

    JW's Inspiration OCP

I did. I was so excited when it first started fermenting, because it tasted and smelled amazing. By the time I racked to my secondary, it tasted pretty hot with no detectable flavors and smelled a little odd. I'm hoping it all mellows out by the end.

    Honey Red Ale

That sounds absolutely delicious and is going on our list of batches to make.

    Honey Red Ale

Can you enlighten me on the tweak? I searched for it but can't seem to find it. It sounds amazing though!!

Amish Mafia - What a load of bull!

As a resident of Lancaster County, I can guarantee that this show is absolutely made up. (although it's very entertaining!) Actually, Levi and his boys hang out at a local bar and regaled the staff with the whole truth about how the entire show is scripted and they were sought out by the...

Combining recipes - Mango and White Grape Peach

Hello all! I have a gallon of mango nectar I picked up at Costco very cheaply and was thinking of how I wanted to use it. I want to combine it with the Welch's white grape peach and make a peach mango wine. I found a recipe on Jack Keller's for mango wine and a recipe for white grape peach...

    Danger's lab---keep out!!!

I just recently started using the foil caps too and I love them! They are great for storage and keeping batches separate, and are pretty cheap! Plus, they just look cool! :)

    "WOW!" 's Worth Noting

Thanks for the tip about the oak spiral - that sounds great!!

    "WOW!" 's Worth Noting

I agree with Danger Dave. I was tempted to do a 1-gallon for my first batch but went with the full 5. I'm glad I did - this stuff goes down like water and my husband and friends can't keep their mitts off of it. I prefer wines that are on the dry side, so I only used about 2 2/3 cup sugar to...

    Just bottled Chilean Pinot Noir...

I have the crafter's heat gun from Michaels craft store and it works brilliantly. You have to move it around pretty quickly, but it also does a nice even job with no wrinkles.

    What R you doing today?

Today I spent time poring through the recipes I've gleaned from this forum (such a wealth of knowledge!!) and decided on a few batches. Tomorrow I'll be out getting the last bit of supplies I need for the Chocolate Orange Port - I can't WAIT for this one!

    "WOW!" 's Worth Noting

This sounds fantastic! I'm going to give this a try tomorrow. Danger has been tempting me with his reports of the Red Dragon Melomel, so I think i"m going to jump in. If it's anything like the Dragon's Blood (or even better??) then I think it'll be a winner.
