    Chilean Grape Arrival Date

Update: I got the call from Consumers Produce yesterday that the grapes were on their way, should be there by 8:00 this morning. I'll be picking them up tomorrow morning. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Noir. Again - I'm talking about grapes, not juice.

    Chilean Grape Arrival Date

I got an update from Consumers in Pgh. Said he doesn't have his shipment arrival notice yet. Expects some grapes maybe as early as the 15th, some as late as the 25th. They'll send out the schedule to those that ordered grapes as soon as they get it. Again - talking about grapes, not juice.

    Chilean Grape Arrival Date

Thanks for the replies. Someone on the other board said Corrado's says May 15th. Tim, I think you're talking about juice. I'm trying to track the arrival of fresh grapes.

    Chilean Grape Arrival Date

Anyone have an update on when the Chilean grapes are expected to arrive? Original forecast was "early May," but M&M put out an update in early April stating there was a 1 week delay on the harvest. I'm getting mine from Consumers Produce in Pittsburgh, but I'm pretty sure they get the same...

ATTN: Pittsburgh Winemakers - Possible Group Buy from M&M Wine Grape Company

There was a good bit of interest in the group buy, but alas it is not going to happen. Unfortunately the prices when including the cost of freighting the grapes here from Hartford are too high for most of those who were interested, myself included. To those of you who were interested, I'm...

    Fall 2011 price list out

Heh, that both is and isn't the point I was trying to make. I don't have a Bimmer. Or a Cruze. I'm more of a Jeep guy (but I wouldn't mind riding in your 'vette!). But I can appreciate that the 335i is a much nicer car made from better parts than the Cruze that will give the consumer the...

    Fall 2011 price list out

Comparing fresh grapes from Lanza to a bucket of juice is like comparing a BMW 335i to a Chevy Cruze. The Cruze is a great car, but to complain about the 335i costing so much more doesn't make sense. Different animals. It's not consumers prices that went up, but rather California grape...

ATTN: Pittsburgh Winemakers - Possible Group Buy from M&M Wine Grape Company

jr98118, I will PM you... Rocky, good to hear from a former Pittsburgher. Consumers and Premier are still there in the strip, still selling grapes. I got my Chilean grapes from Consumers back in May. They were nice. Primati's is still in its same old spot on Smallman. The ones on Cherry...

ATTN: Pittsburgh Winemakers - Possible Group Buy from M&M Wine Grape Company

I've received a bit of interest in this. If you're interested in going in on this group buy and haven't contacted me yet, please get in touch asap and let me know which varieties you are interested in and what quantities you are looking for. Then I'll be able to find out if we have enough...

ATTN: Pittsburgh Winemakers - Possible Group Buy from M&M Wine Grape Company

You could try to organize the same in your area. Just contact M&M and see if they'd be willing to ship to NC.

ATTN: Pittsburgh Winemakers - Possible Group Buy from M&M Wine Grape Company

If you are a winemaker in the Pittsburgh, PA area and you are interested in procuring some high quality, Premium California wine grapes from regions such as Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Suisun, Paso Robles, etc., you may be in luck! I have spoken with the M&M Wine Grape Company about the...

    Fall 2011 price list out

They updated their web site last week to prepare for posting the 2011 prices. There are spots in the table (seen here) for grapes from Lodi, Ca. It says prices will be posted during the first week of August.

    Fall 2011 price list out

I was at L'Uva Bella the other day tasting some wine and eating some food. I asked about grapes. I was told they would probably be running a little late this year and that they will likely be expensive. They carry Tri-Boro grapes - the same that Premier Produce carries. He said they might be...

    Fall 2011 price list out

I got the list, too. I emailed them to try to findout where the juice comes from - what growers or regions - but unfortunately they don't know. However, I was told they can get this information for their fresh grapes. I'm looking forward to seeing the grape list mid-August. Man I wish I...

    Winemakers Magazine 2012 Conference

I'm planning to attend. I believe tickets will go on sale in early November. According to the web site, "Full details and registration information will be in the December-January issue of WineMaker and posted on winemakermag.com November 1."

Yeah, I'm with you. I don't see that process as overkill. I'm not interested in winemaking as a means to acquiring a supply of drinkable wine; I'm interested in learning to make the best wine I can. For me the journey is the destination. I want the end result to be fantastic wine, but I want...

That's a great link, Robie. I wish I'd have found that sooner!

    California Wine Juice

Albany is about two hours from Hartford, which is where M&M is. I've heard that M&M offers some of the best grapes available on this coast; I'd imagine their juice follows suit. If you don't mind a little drive, you might want to look into them.

I haven't gone to Walkers. I think my main reason is that I want to work with whole clusters, not juice, especially for reds. Walkers does a hot pressing of their reds which I'm not too keen on. They've recently started getting some of their grapes from Gary at Liberty Vineyards. Liberty...

Thanks for the feedback, Robie. I've since read, as you suggest, that blending yeasts in a single fermenter is not a good idea for the reason you state. In the future I'll be sure to separate if I'm using two yeasts. I don't recall where I got the idea to use two yeasts. It might be in...
