    it was a 4-week kit. 2 weeks in the primary. then 2 weeks in the carboy. then into the bottles. thanks for all the responses.

    it has aged about 3 weeks. there is not a lot of gas so i dont think i am at risk of the bottles blowing out. thanks

    Just completed (first ever) batch of cab from a kit (Grand Cru). everything went fine...except after the bottling was finished we noticed that there was some sediment in the bottom of most bottles. After opening the first bottle, turns out we also didn't degass good enough. I am not worried...

    covering primary fermenter with airlock or not?

    thanks to everyone for the input. i unsnapped the lid and just set it on top of the bucket this evening. will stir every other day or so and keep and eye on it. thanks!

    Newbie just started my first batch tonight. have a Vitner's Best kit and making a cab. covered the primary with the plastic lid and airlock that came with the kit. but then was reading online that some say to leave the primary uncovered (or with a light towel instead). any thoughts are...
