    Wildberry Wine Help

I have 15lbs of freshly picked Saskatoon berries (also known as serviceberry or juneberry). I want to make wine with them but my google searches have been all over the place... What is a good rule of thumb for quantity per gallon? The most common search result is 4.5 to 5 lb/gal. Is that in...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Thanks for that guys! Just so happened I had a few over rippened bananas on the counter. So I added 3 peeled chopped & mushed up to each of 2 different batches I started last weekend. (I didn't bother freezing them first though...) They are both sitting at 15 Brix right now (started them at...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Hey guys, I've got my first 2 batches of DB in the books... The first was the original recipe and is in bottles, the 2nd is Strawberry and has been back sweetened but still in a carboy. Although both batches turned out quite tasty, I would like them to have a bit more body.. Now I know that its...

    Something went wrong with filtering

My corks were about a year old. i just soak them in iodophor while I bottle. But the bottle in question was a clear beer bottle with a crown cap... I did open a second bottle tonight and although the taste is still there and quite noticeable I don't think it's as strong as a couple days...

    Something went wrong with filtering

No, I filter to a bottling bucket, then to bottles I first start the pump I a waste bucket/bottle. Run it until clear wine comes out (about 10 seconds) and throw it out. Works out to just under a full bottle usually

    Something went wrong with filtering

I just soaked them in clean water.. I tried another wine tonight that i bottled about 3 weeks ago and ran through my filter and it too has the same soapy taste?!?!? it is not as strong but definitely there... I don't get it??? maybe i don't let it run long enough to clean the water out? but i...

    Something went wrong with filtering

Yes i am using the mini jet I SECOND THAT!!! That machine does look awesome! I did... I filtered from the carboy straight into my bottling bucket then into bottles.. i have 27 bottles of this.... so I can try one every few weeks for the next 3 years in hopes it turns out;) The pads...

    Something went wrong with filtering

The pads were a couple years old, but still in the wrapper... the filter hadn't been used in probably over a year but i ran cleaner (oxyclean) through it then about 3 gallons of clean water, then sanitizer.... The OxyClean is pretty much odorless. For a taste comparison though, I am...

    Something went wrong with filtering

I use OxyClean Versatile chlorine free from my local Costco. I guess it is possible I just didn't rinse properly but I have used the same process for a while for brewing and never had a problem before.... Mind you, I am very new at wine making... and maybe beer is more tolerant... but i always...

    What R you doing today?

Today i'm doing...... nothing brought up 2 batches to bottle last night, got 1 in bottles, left the other for tonight... I guess i popped the cork off that bottle of Malbec a tad to early :dg so the Raspberry DB is gonna spend one more night on the kitchen table :ib

    WineXpert Kit from 2008?

KMS or K-meta is short for Potassium Metabisulfite. It's the yeast stabilizer that likely came with the kit, can also be used as a sanitizer

    WineXpert Kit from 2008?

I agree with Roger80465 selling a 7yr old kit isn't very likely... and dumping it seems like a waste. get a new yeast pack for a buck and let r rip... the worse that can happen is that you'll end up dumping it in 6 weeks.... but it might turn out very drinkable.. The must should be sterile so...

    Something went wrong with filtering

All my equipment was washed with OxyClean & rinsed then I used Iodophor solution. (1ml/L) for sanitizing everything (pump, hoses, bucket, gear & bottles) pumped out of the carboy straight into my bottling bucket, This is the same procedure I use for brewing... minus the pump.

    Something went wrong with filtering

I just finished my first batch of DB. Everything was going great from day 1. But before racking to my bottling bucket last night, i bumped the carboy and put some of the sediment back in suspension... So instead of waiting for it to settle back down, i decided to run it through the filter. I...
