    Am I reading this hydrometer wrong??

    Hi CK55, It has been asked before, but I don't see that you tried it. Can you fill your Hydrometer testing tube with only water, then put your Hydrometer in there, and take a reading of the water? should be close to 1.000 (typically calibrated at 15°C) What is our reading?

    The instructions I was told was to not use any yeast. Just let the pail begin fermentation naturally - the pail it came in.     Thanks for the info. The temperature during fermentation was about 20 deg Celsius (68 F). I added a small amount of yeast nutrient (10ml) but I do not know how much is enough nutrient for a 6 gallon pail.
