What filter do you use

Has anyone ever added oak to dragons blood wine for a different taste. Pros or cons.

I mixed it with a whip and electric drill .

Making my second batch of dragons blood wine and this time I used 10 lbs. Of extra fine sugar and my s.g. is not as high as when I used regular sugar. Did I mess this up or should I add regular sugar to get my s.g. up. Thanks
