    Elderberry Mead

Well, it's long overdue, but I'm finally starting my first elderberry mead. It's a 3 gallon batch using 1 lb dried elderberries plus 3.5 lbs of frozen berries I harvested last fall. As my tastes have changed, I've gone from brewing 10-12 batches of mead per year to just a couple, often melomels...

    Dry Concord recipe?

I've inherited a couple dozen concord vines at my new place, and despite searching the forums vigorously did not find the answer I was looking for. I have a strong preference for dry wines but would like to ferment at least some portion of these concords (I'm not big on grape jelly or juice). I...

Considering my first all grape batch, low-tech...need advice

Hi all, I'm considering doing my first batch from grapes. Chilean grapes would probably be ideal (and cheaper) but I'll be doing a fair amount of traveling much of April and possibly thru early July so that timing doesn't work out. But, I thought this summer perhaps I could afford two...

Other What are your favorite inexpensive "everyday" kit wines?

What are your favorite inexpensive "everyday" kit wines? I know the worth of premium kits, but being on a limited budget is partly what drew me to making my own. So, keeping my high-end kits for "special occasions", I'm looking to find if any folks have favorite "lower-end" kits (let's say 12L...

WineXpert South African Viognier/Chenin/Roussanne shipped today!

South African Viognier/Chenin Blanc/Roussanne shipped today! I saw little to no mention of this kit in the popular LE Kit thread. Anybody else order this? I'm pretty excited, but then I'm a sucker for unique blends and aromatic whites in general (viognier, torrontes, dry muscat). Cheers!

Other Dry Rosé kit? ...or tweaking blush kits

I'm a big fan of dry Rosés, but have never seen a dry rosé kit. Anyone ever tweak the ubiquitous White Zinfandel/Merlot or other "blush" kits to be dry? How did you like the results? Cheers!

    World wine shortage

Bummer. Perhaps we should start making more long-lived wines (like Amarone) and soon! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-24746539

WineXpert Recommendations for low end Red kit?

Hi folks, I'm a new winemaker looking to make a (relatively early-drinking) red kit to drink while waiting for a bigger one to age. Any recommendations? I'm trying to limit it to a WE VR or WE World kit. I've heard that blends might be a better bet for a low end kit... Thanks in advance!
